Carving the instruments is only part of the Ice Music process. Once they get in the hands of the players, they must be continually maintained. Body heat occasionally causes parts of the instruments to melt, and the breath from the audience can increase the temperature in the space to a point where the tuning of the instruments is compromised. Every year Tim builds a specially designed igloo to keep the instruments as cool as possible.
Ice Music is an experience for every bucket list. It was inspiring to see how Tim’s vision has evolved into a unique event. The instruments and the music alike are beautiful.
